Church Life
Worship
We gather together on Sunday mornings at 9.30am to worship God as a community. The service is an hour to an hour and twenty minutes in duration.
We worship by singing and praying together as we focus on God. We look into God’s word, the Bible, and listen to a talk (sermon) which aims to help us see and understand the love and work of God as shown in the Bible and how that is relevant in our everyday lives. When the sermon starts, the children generally head out to Sunday school.
We celebrate communion (the Lord’s Supper) on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, and all who believe in Jesus as their saviour are welcome to join in.
On the first and third Sunday of each month, a team provides a brief worship service for the residents at Midland Nursing Home.
After our services, we enjoy a time of fellowship over morning tea.
Serving
Serving and loving one another, and those in our community, is important to us at Bellevue Baptist, but it needs the involvement of many people because caring for people is an intentional activity which takes time and energy.
We would love to talk to you about serving in some area you are enthusiastic about. Perhaps you would like to serve, but are not sure of where you might fit – talk to us about possibilities.
For more information, and to get involved, contact one of the pastors or elders.
Membership
While you don’t have to formally become a member to connect at Bellevue Baptist Church, there are a couple of good reasons for doing so:
- It is way of showing your commitment to this local gathering of followers of Jesus.
- It demonstrates your willingness to support the ministry, and maintain the fellowship, of the local church
- You gain the opportunity to share in the government of the local church through the exercise of your right to vote in members’ meetings.
