The Fall of Jerusalem: Beginning to Lament.

April 27, 2025

Devorah lives in Jerusalem with her family. She gives her account of the city, its kings and this fate as it falls into disobedience to Yahweh. Through her account, and that of her granddaughter, Eliora, the story of the suffering and desperation of the people as Jerusalem falls to Nebuchadnezzar’s army and is burned is told as an eyewitness account. The story is drawn from Biblical accounts, archaeology and historical records. The city was so totally destroyed that here is little evidence of the Temple and so this account is more of a docudrama than an historical retelling.

2 Kings: 22-23-24

2 Chronicles: 34-35.  Psalm 51. Jeremiah’s letter to the Exiles is in Ch 29
