What’s in a Name
Aussies are fairly well-known for the practice of assigning nicknames. Someone who’s really tall might get called Shorty, or someone with red hair becomes Bluey or Gingernut. Sometimes, unfortunately, we get lumbered with a rather unflattering label because of something we did or said as a child, and no matter how old we get, we just can’t seem to outrun it. One of the disciples got labelled rather unkindly by the early church and it’s a nickname that has stuck, even though it is unfair. So this is the story of Thomas, who became known as ‘doubting Thomas.’
